COURSE DESCRIPTION
Most clinical training programs never taught us to recognize complex dissociative disorders, let alone treat them. Clients present in our offices for years before anyone names what's happening, and by the time DID enters the conversation, many therapists don't know where to start. This training closes that gap. Joanne Twombly walks through diagnosis, stabilization and coping skills, and the paced uncovering of traumatic material, mapped onto the three phases of trauma treatment so the framework you already know extends naturally to this population.
You'll leave with concrete, applicable skills, not just a broader understanding of the diagnosis. If you've avoided working with dissociative clients because you weren't sure how to keep things safe, this training is built to change that.
Joanne Twombly teaches through lecture and case presentation, drawing on stories from decades of clinical work, alongside live demonstrations and applied practice. Time is built in for participants to explore internal process experientially, allowing for deeper integration of understanding.

MEET YOUR TRAINER
Joanne Twombly
Joanne H. Twombly, MSW, LICSW is in private practice in Arlington, MA, where she works extensively with people with complex PTSD and Dissociative Disorders. She also provides trainings and consultation in EMDR and IFS. She has published several book chapters on EMDR, EMDR and IFS, and perpetrator introjects, and is the author of a book on Trauma and Dissociation Informed Internal Family Systems. Her commitment to providing the optimal space for healing has led her to become an EMDR Trauma and Recovery HAP Facilitator, a certified consultant in EMDR, Internal Family Systems Certified, and an American Society for Clinical Hypnosis Consultant. She is past president of the New England Society for the Treatment of Trauma and Dissociation and has served on various committees and the Board of the International Society for the Treatment of Trauma and Dissociation. She was honored with ISSTD's Distinguished Achievement Award and is an ISSTD Fellow.

This two-day workshop with Joanne Twombly, LICSW, teaches clinicians to diagnose and treat complex trauma and dissociative disorders, including DID, using EMDR. Participants will learn the 8-phase model integrated with 3-phase trauma treatment, stabilization and ego-state work, safe desensitization protocols, and management of countertransference, through case examples, video demonstration, and practicum.

COURSE PREREQUISITES:
This continuing education program is intended for graduate-level professional counselors and mental health practitioners. It is designed for clinicians who hold a master's degree or higher in a mental health field, as well as graduate students actively pursuing that level of training.
